Discussion week 2

There are two parts to this assignment. All refencing and citing search MUST come from this website: https://www.nih.gov/. All referencing and citing will be checked through my professor!

– Both 1 & 2 question must contain 150 words or more.

1.) For this first assignment, I must respond to this comment from my fellow classmates:

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is poor blood circulation in the lower extremity primarily caused by atherosclerosis that narrows the artery and ultimately reduces blood flow. Other factors for PAD include smoking, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and aging. It affects both sexes but is more prevalent in African Americans. According to the CDC, PAD affects 6.5 million people age 40 and older in the United States. The disease symptoms are leg discomfort and pain or cramping in the calf and thighs. PAD is prevented by maintaining a healthy lifestyle by quitting smoking, doing aerobic exercises regularly, maintaining good blood sugar, blood pressure, blood cholesterol, and limiting fatty food consumption. Also, aspirin or clopidogrel is recommended to prevent other conditions such as heart attack and stroke. Cleveland Clinic (2019) indicates that serious health issues can occur in PAD if neglected. They said it is associated with heart attack, stroke, transient ischemic attack (TIA), renal artery disease, and amputation.

2.) Explain the net filtration pressure and edema on how you manipulate the pressure to cause edema using peer-reviewed studies? How does this relate to hypotension and malnourishment?

Reminder that all referencing must be from within the website above and contain 150 words or more. Be concise and professional!
