My interviewee stressed the importance of maintaining the right attitude while dealing with patients. She highlighted that people who go through difficult times could be experiencing high levels of stress so being patient and kind to them will go a long way. In addition, my interviewee shared that her lifestyle and habits certainly played a big factor in her condition. She shared that she had to change her diet as her primary doctor advised her to do. Therefore, she found herself having to eat healthier foods such as fruits and vegetables while lessening her soda and alcohol intake because a healthy diet is important for someone who has hypertension and is a prediabetic. She wants to encourage everyone to take care of themselves and their health.

The message regarding the person I interviewed is to establish strong attention to detail and exhibit empathy towards others. There were many times when the VA Hospital made an error that causes them to reschedule, sometimes it lasts as long as 2 months or more. This results in prolonged exposure to pain and discomfort of life, for the people working at the VA they don’t understand that you have to go home dealing with more suffering while this all could have been easily avoided. It makes the patient feel like they are nothing, and it is okay to treat poorly. By constantly making mistakes and exhibiting lack of regard towards others, the issues only become worse.
