Week 6 – Scripting
This week we focus on scripting to automate system administration tasks.
Task
Step 1
Now it’s time to do a strategic analysis on your own project.
Identify key areas of system administration that could be automated in some way to save you some
effort and headaches in the following areas:
o Analyze the current state of your SOHO network and the way users interact with it.
o Define what problems could be encountered by the systems, users, or other issues that could be proactively taken care of.
o Describe how you would take care of this problem or task using an automated script that could be set to occur as a timed event, or triggered during some operation of the computer.
Prepare a list of commands that could be entered into the command-line interface in order to achieve this goal.
