When do we use Paired-Sample T-Test?
Paired-Sample T-Test is also known as dependent T-Test, repeated-measures T-test, or within-subjects T-test. A Paired-sample t-test is used to analyze paired scores, specifically, we want to see if there is a difference between paired scores.
Example Scenario
An excessive calorie intake experiment was created to see how much weight would be gained and if it would be significant. Each participant’s weight was measured before and after the program to see if excessive calorie intake would make a difference.
In this example, our null hypothesis is that the program is not going to make a difference, i.e., there is no difference between the weight measured before and after the program. The alternative hypothesis is that the program is effective and the weight measured after is more than the weight measured before the program. The dataset can be obtained in JASP under the data set t-test and Weight gain.
Step 1: In the data, the first column is the weight measured before the program and the second column is the weight after.

For this lab, you need to write a full empirical paper including:

Title page – Title should be related to variables of the study
Introduction/lit review – 3 sources related to calorie intake and weight gain.
Purpose/aim of study – Why is this study being done.
Hypothesis statement – What is the predicted outcome of the study
Method section – Participants, Materials, Procedure, Design

Reference section

Before M=144.64, SD=22.71 compared to after M=155.05, SD=21.44, t(15)=-10.84, p<.001 (See Table 1).
