Introduction

      This is one of the most notable poems written by Langton Hughes. The poet is also a playwright, fiction writer, and novelist. The poem is an expression of the optimism he has after an attempt to end his life but which later make him want to live more. The plot is about a lover who contemplates committing suicide after his beloved lover deceives him. After trying to kill himself twice, he changes his mind and becomes more optimistic about living again.
