Clinical Practice
Courtney Thomas
Hello class,
This is the last week! This week we completed a few case studies which allowed us to virtually apply research to the nursing practice. I particularly enjoyed the the third one, Failure to Rescue. Failure to Rescue (FTR) is the failure of healthcare providers to promptly detect and respond to a hospitalized patient’s complications, resulting in a fatal outcome. It is a safety and quality metric where nurses play a vital role in its prevention. I can see how easily this could occur because as humans we become overwhelmed and sometimes even freeze up in tough situations.
How did taking this class change how you practice clinically?
Taking this nursing research class will positively impact my clinical practice by enhancing my ability to critically evaluate and incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care, resulting in more informed and effective clinical decision-making. It has also instilled a deeper appreciation for the importance of research in improving patient outcomes.
