Every March, American society takes time to celebrate the power of women. From the celebrities we admire to everyday women, society is up to get educated on women power. However, women’s history was an unknown topic in the 1970s as the celebration of women was yet to be established in American history (Lewis, 2019). Notably, the beginning of women’s month is attributed to the Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission that instituted the “Women’s History Week” celebration in 1978 (Lewis, 2019). The chosen week coincided with March 8, the International Women’s Day. The response was positive as learning institutions started to host the Women’s History Week programs.
