In the paper, give a short summary of the important arguments in that reading. Then give some
implications of these arguments. What consequences does this have on the way we look at art
or the world in general? In addition, tell me what you think are some of the problems or
contradictions in the reading’s arguments.

Modernism is basically used to convey faith in development and a good skepticism for received facts and traditional ethics. It has been associated with development in art. Modernization defines the art of history in three different ways; firstly, this is the widest form of modernism. It is used to refer to the distinguishing features of western culture, in which human experience was transformed into industrialization and urbanization. In this kind of modernism, Manet’s demonstration on painting qualifies on the issue of social life. Secondly, modernism is used to express evaluative judgment concerning aspects of beliefs found to be “life” or “critical”. In this sense, it discusses mostly the modern tradition in the art and the grounds in which modern art may be differentiated from classical, academic, popular and mass culture and other conservative types.
