Microbiology
Microbiology is defined as the study of microscopic organisms. Some of the main organisms that are studied include viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and fungi. Fundamental research is undertaken in regards to the cell biology, ecology, physiology, evolution, biochemistry, and clinical aspects of these organisms. Microbiology also aims at assessing the impacts that these organisms have on their hosts. The study allows individuals to better understand the impacts of these microorganisms and how they can be controlled to prevent diseases and ailments among other organisms that they affect. Since these microorganisms are not visible to the naked human eye, various mechanisms are applied to study them. There are three major mechanisms that are utilized. They include electron, optical, and scanning probes.
