Government Structure Analysis
The American society was not always as liberal as it is in contemporary society in which case leftists or conservatives have a free platform on which to air their opinion. As a British colony, the country was subject to laws passed by a Congress that was largely comprised of leaders loyal to the crown. However, the American Revolution of 1765 gave rise to the country’s independence and the consequent adoption of the Articles of Confederation, which spelled out the laws to which the different states in the country would have to abide. However, the inadequacy of the Articles of Confederation created an agitation for change and the consequent creation and ratification of the American Constitution in 1791 (Beard, 2017).
