Analytical Response Paper
Please choose a topic of your choice that interests or intrigues you and write a(12pt font double spaced) paper discussing how the topic relates to our Borders & Global Order module. Try to draw from at least two lectures and one reading. You can choose to discuss differences between disciplines in social science, apply concepts from lecture to a case study (ex: how indirect rule differed in Sierra Leone and Nigeria), discuss issues you see with theory we discussed (ex: argue that humans are not rational actors and therefore cannot always make clear cost/benefit analyses), or contextualize a lecture within globalization or contemporary society (ex: how differences in McDonald’s menus shows the resilience of culture in an assimilating world). These ideas by no means limit you, this prompt is meant to be open-ended and part of the exercise is thinking deeply about how topics you are interested in relate to our course.
Please use APA or MLA citation format when paraphrasing or mentioning books, articles, or concepts from academic sources. Feel free to include maps, external sources or any other resource you believe to be appropriate!
You will be graded on:
- Quality of Writing
Does the paper include a clear introduction, body and conclusion? Is the paper free of spelling and grammatical errors?
Is the paper properly formatted (MLA/ APA)
(Is the paper a rough draft or a final product?) - Engagement with course material
Does the student explicitly discuss/ cite concepts from lecture? Does the student demonstrate an understanding of course content? Is the topic of the paper sufficiently related to course content?

The world is made up of diverse cultures whereby people have adopted different practices, believes and traditions to promote a sense of belonging. Certain organizations and regulations are put in place to ensure that every region gets a unique strategy that people become more comfortable. McDonald is a worldwide recognized multinational organization that serve many countries for the satisfaction of their consumers. Their activities in the US are not similar to those conducted in China, Japan, India, Morocco and other parts of the world with their restaurants.
