Egyptian Hymns and Genesis
For maximum points, you must have direct quotes from the text. Do not go to outside sources for your responses – only use the text. More is better, but you must have at least one. It needs to support the idea(s) you’re discussing – in other words, it must be relevant to the discussion.
Question 2: The book of Genesis offers yet another view of the creation myth. One difference is that here you have a collective voice, the human aspect and a focus on the interaction between divinity and humanity. And, of course, the fact that here the allegiance is to and from a single god, rather than many, is another difference. Notice that Genesis provides us with two different versions of how the world came into being (Chapter 1, Chapter 2). Discuss the two versions. How are they the same? Where do they differ? Why? The first version could be said to answer the question of where we come from, while the second addresses reasons why – why we have to die, why we have to work, why women are subordinate to men. Do you agree? Look at the difference between women’s roles in Inanna and Genesis. Why do you think there’s such a major shift in attitudes toward women? Discuss. Remember work must be supported with examples. (Please only reference the actual Creation myth in Chaps. 1 & 2 – should not include the Flood or Babel.)

The book of Genesis offers two creation stories which both explain the origin of man but in a different way. The first account can be found in Genesis Chapter one while the second is located in the Chapter two of the same book. These two stories are similar at some point as God is the most powerful in the whole process of creation. Although the way he conducts his activities might differ, he is still the only being with power enough to bring creatures and the environment into existence (Collins, 2006). There are however major differences between the first and second accounts as explained in the book of Genesis chapter one and two.
