Analysis of a SPECIFIC class of drugs: Include an overview of the drug class and then specifically discuss a type of drug within that class and then one drug within that type in detail. Example: Class: Antihypertensives (provide a very brief review), Type: Beta Blockers (supply some details about beta-blockers), Specifically: Labetalol (share with us the specifics on the pharmacodynamics/pharmacokinetics/adverse effects, etc. for this specific drug). Please focus on the drug, not on the condition the drug is used to treat; we will be covering conditions in the final paper. Use this allotted space in the midterm for material on the drug class. See specific expectations below. • o Introduction and thesis statement o Overview of the drug class Common generic/trade names Indications/common uses Pharmacodynamics: mechanism of action Pharmacokinetics Adverse drug effects Drug-drug, drug-food and drug-lab interactions o Discussion of relevant research regarding drug class o Analysis of effects of special concern to the physical therapist Must include implications and role of PT in pharmacological management o Conclusion o References o Sample drug classes: Sedative-hypnotics, Anticoagulants, Analgesics, NSAIDs, DMARDs, anti-hypertensives; and Sample drug types: Benzodiazepines, Coumarin, Opioids, COX-2 inhibitors, Diuretics; and specific named drugs: Diazepam, Warfarin, Oxycontin, Celecoxib, furosemide. Please try to be as specific as possible when requesting your topic. The paper should not exceed 6 pages (excluding the title page, appendices, and references), should be double-spaced, 12 font, Times New Roman, adhere to APA format/style, and include a minimum of 8 references (12 preferred), at least 6 of which must be from journals. Throughout history, humanity has been championed for its unique aspect of transformation which is deeply rooted in technological innovations in all industries. While such technological transformation has spilled over into the health industry, it has arguably been equally beneficial to the pharmaceuticals industry as it has been detrimental to people’s health. With the rising technology cases of anxiety and depression are becoming more prevalent by the day. Luckily the pharmaceuticals industry has equally adapted through the development of drugs to assist individuals suffering from such adverse nervous system conditions. Sedative-Hypnotics have been particularly helpful in this front for quite a while in human history. Most notable are benzodiazepines which is one of the two branches of sedative –hypnotics. The article through a precise dissection of the underbelly of Sedative-Hypnotics narrows down to the branch benzodiazepines precisely analyzing the pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and the adverse effects of one specific drug under this class of drugs.
