Part One
The first episode of “The Men Who Built America” focuses on the period which existed following the Civil War. However, the Civil War also led to the development of a new era which featured a new breed of leaders who would contribute to the development and the industrialization of the country. The episode goes on to provide information on the life of Cornelius Vanderbilt. What is featured at the beginning of the episode revolves around the early life of Cornelius where Cornelius is regarded as impoverished. Vanderbilt purchased his first boat which led him to gain success in the shipping industry.
