I need help writing a Persuasive Essay in MLA about the story “The Tell-Tale Heart”. Analyze its themes through one or more literary lenses. Think of a debatable theory related to that lens (ex: “The Story of an Hour” + Feminism; Theory: “Mrs Mallard’s death was a symbolic victory over her society’s sexist expectations”) and argue either for or against that theory. The proof of the narrator’s madness is not in the fact that he clearly understands and articulates his action rather in how he contradicts his claims of sanity.
The short story “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe depicts a narrator who claims he is not mad and seeks to prove his sanity by telling a story. In this story, the narrator explains to the readers that he is not mad rather he explains that he is suffering from extreme nervousness (Poe 1). To further support his claim of sanity the narrator decides to narrate a story to the reader. While he claims to be sane, he confesses to killing an old man in this story.
