Reflection paper

Reflection paper

This is the instructions for the Reflection paper:
As we end the class, I would like you to spend some me reflecting on all of the reading and writing that you did this semester — I know it was a lot!! Although it has only been seven weeks, you have all come a long way since the first week of class, and I’d like you to reflect upon and write about that process.

This reflection should be 800 to 1000 words (about four pages plus a cover page, double spaced, APA format). Use the following as points to address in a narrative written in paragraph form.

Don’t write this as bullet-point or numbered responses to questions. These are just things to think about.

Use the Epp reading on the importance of reflection to think back to where you were with your own reading and wring skills when you first entered the course versus where you see yourself as a writer today.
Discuss how you feel you have progressed as a critical reader in your ability to read and understand academic research.
What are some reading strategies you learned from the class?
Discuss your progress in synthesizing academic research as a writer.
What are your thoughts on writing to use evidence-based practice in your own work?
How have you progressed in your knowledge about APA and citing sources?
What did you learn in regards to your own research topic/question that you worked on throughout the semester, and how do you think this knowledge will help you as a nurse as you continue on with your education and/or in the place where you work today?
How do you feel about the use of technology, whether it is with the Canvas system, searching in all of the databases, or any other areas you feel you’ve mastered or still need to work on?

You may think of other areas you wish to talk about in reflecting on your progress as a reader and writer within the Nursing program. You’ve all done some important work in researching issues important to you, and I hope you can take some of it back to your jobs and share it with your colleagues; that’s the point of this – gathering the “evidence” to practicing evidence-based medicine and sharing knowledge to better ourselves, our patients, our colleagues, and our work. I wish you the best as you continue on within the RN-BSN program here at EMU!

Reflecting on nursing education and what I learned throughout the semester have had profound implications on my nursing skills and knowledge and exceeded my anticipations. The degree of growth I have witnessed studying this course is enormous regarding how I oversee my work and assignments, approach class assignments, interact with colleagues, and how I conduct research (Epp, 2008).
