Q1. According to the reading, how do modernism and modernity impact the art in Great Britain?
The traditional or academic type of art mainly focused on paintings which demonstrated the beliefs and the cultures which applied to the people who were considered as elites of the society. These people had the means to pay for paintings and even had huge castles or buildings like churches where they could display the art. The scenes which the artists chose to include in the pictures were mostly religious or those of heroic people or soldiers.
The advent of modernity in Great Britain was symbolized by the start of the industrial revolution and urban culture, where people moved from producing their necessities to buying them from specialized producers and traders.
