Machismo

Machismo implies masculine, or the existence of masculine characteristics in an individual. However, although the primary definition of masculinity varies from one culture to another, the name machismo is a Latino approach to the definition of masculinity. Used in the context of indicating male characteristics, then the word would be used as an implication of the Latino male masculine characteristics. As exemplified by Abiel Acosta, Machismo is derived from the word “macho” which in Spanish means a male mule (107).
