The Cask of Amontillado
The short story, The Cask of Amontillado, was written by Edgar Allan Poe and initially published in the year 1846. The plot of the story occurs somewhere in Italy, in a place and time that is not revealed to the reader. The story talks about a man who plans for and executes vengeance on his acquaintance, for insulting him. Like most of the stories written by Poe, The Cask of Amontillado describes a revenge action involving the victim getting buried alive. The main characters of the story are Fortunato and Montresor.
