The impeachment of a president in America is hugely a political process that takes place first in the House of Representatives then goes to Senate. In the House of Representatives, a simple majority must vote in favor for it to be approved. That is two-thirds of the lower house members must vote in favor of impeachment. The Senate then acts as the trial court, and the Chief Justice presides over the process.
