A Critique of Management Models 

Select a company that is familiar to you through experience or one that you have found through research.

Human resources (HR) has asked you to participate in the recruitment and vetting of the company’s new CEO. Before presenting a profile of a leader who best meets the organization’s needs, you draft a case study to share with HR.

To do this, you prepare the study as follows:

  1. Briefly describe the company:
  2. What industry/customer does it serve?
  3. Identify its vision, mission, and goals.
  4. Provide a picture of the culture of the organization.
  5. What are its pros?
  6. What are its cons?
  7. Identify 3 to 5 key problem areas. 
  8. Why do these problems exist?
  9. What is their impact?
  10. Who are the stakeholders responsible for them?
  11. What solutions do you believe are needed?
  12. Analysis of leadership styles and their ability to resolve the problems listed.
  13. Select 5 different leaders, each subscribing to a different leadership model. For each, provide the following:
  14. Description of the leader and the model they represent
  15. How would each impact the workplace?
  16. What features of the leaders/models would positively influence solving the problems you listed? How?
  17. What features of the leaders/model would be counterproductive? How?
  18. Make a recommendation for a leader/model offering the best solutions given the organization’s vision, mission, goals, and culture.

Format using 1 of 2 formats:

  • 15- to 20-slide presentation of your case study
  • The slides should only contain essential information and as little text as possible. Do not design a slide presentation made up of long bullet points. Your speaker notes convey the details you would give if you were presenting.
