The helmet is very important for it represents the aspect of respect in the community for the chief. When the chief wore this helmet, it meant that there was a rather important ceremony that he was presiding over. In addition, the chief wore this helmet in case there was a war to go through and this is essential in the modern environment to show some sense of authority from the chief.
