Oceanic art also known as Oceanian art is a form that comprises creative work that comes from the people of Australia and more specifically those residing in the Pacific Islands of the country. The work is as a result of the combination of two cultures and two different groups of people that settled in the area in different time periods.

Moai refers to human figures that were curved by a group of people known as Rapa Nui that used to live on Easter Island between the periods of 1250 to 1500. Almost half of these are present in Rano Raraku but more than 100 of these figures were moved and taken to the edge of the island. An interesting fact is that these stone figures face away from the ocean and look into the villages as if they are watching over people that live in that island (Rhodes, 2014).
