This week you read two articles that highlight the difference between different the types of qualitative research (observations vs. interviews). Compare and contrast the Goffman and Marvasti articles. How are the two articles similar and different in terms of their purpose, methods, and contributions? In your response, spend time unpacking their different methodological choices. What do you think are the strengths and limitations of using interviews versus ethnographic observations? Further comment on the usefulness of this kind of research to contribute to knowledge and social justice.
