Assignment 2: Case Presentation
During your field education experience, you will interact with multiple clients. As you interact with clients and review your process recordings, you might discover that one client stands out. This may be due to the services needed or a potential case history that interests you.
As a future social worker, preparing a case presentation allows you to present social work practice skills demonstrated in addressing client needs to your colleagues.
For this Assignment, you will submit a case presentation of a client you encountered during your field education experience. Review your field education experience notes and your previous process recordings.
The Assignment: (4–5 pages)
Create a Case Presentation that includes the following:
An explanation of your agency and the services offered
A description of your client to include demographics, presenting problem, goal, legal/ethical considerations, assessment, and proposed treatment/social services delivery plan and the inclusion of termination plans if applicable
An explanation of whether interacting with your client demonstrated social work practice skills
Identification of potential social work skills not demonstrated in your agency or field placement to include a proposed professional development plan
An explanation of how preparing and engaging in a formal case presentation represents a component of professional social work
case: 14 year old female with severe mental health issues. constant attention seeking displays at school with boys. She loves to have attention from the boys. she is a compulsive cutter. makes her own tools to cut at school. we have taken everything from her that could possibly turn into a weapon. She told a friend that she had cut this week. We approached her and she became very hostile. We called the parent. The parent along with the child tried to blame the school. She stated she wanted to die. We sent her to be evaluated at the Emergency room. Dad was mad at us. She was trying to refuse but I talked her down. She eventually decided she should go. we discussed back and forth of all the reason s she should be evaluated by a mental health professional. Dad finally got on board after I talked with him about possible cutting after he got her home. we suggested he take her to the emergency room to have her evaluated.
I am a school social worker in Georgia. We offer all services that any school system offers in the united states. Case Presentation
The case presentation is about a 14 year old girl suffering from severe mental problems. The mental issue affects her psychological reasoning leading to strange behavior and hostility. The mental health condition of the girl has been becoming worse as the days progress, without any course of action to help her. The Murray County Public School is an institution that is committed to helping students with any problems they are facing, and to assist them to have a better future. Since the girl’s mental issue is likely to derail her from the path towards achieving a better future for herself, I approached her parents to convince them to take the necessary action of having her checked by professionals and assisted so that she could be able to go to school and advance.
