The artwork selected for this discussion is “The Toilette of Venus” by François Boucher. This artwork was admired by Madame de Pompadour, mistress of Louis XV, and from 1747 to 1764 when she faced her demise (Simons, 2017). This is a famous artwork which was custom-made for the dressing area at Bellevue.
