Chapter 12 – “Analyzing Managerial Decisions: Medford University”
Notably, president Kobayashi decided to appoint a task force to consider the issue on fringe benefits rather than asking the institutions human resource department to design a plan primarily because she wanted to assign the decision rights to a team representing the employees. As such, the staff and faculty members from a different department at the university will promote both teamwork and collective decision making (Brickley, Smith & Zimmerman, 2009). The task force will address the issue better as they represent the staff and know them personally compared to the human resource department.
