Virtual teams refer to groups of individuals who work on the same project or task but are located in different regions. Work done by virtual teams is possible due to communication technologies such as the internet, email, fax, and conferencing services. Unlike traditional teams, virtual teams require commitment and dedication since members of the teams do not meet and thereby they have to trust each other so that the organizational goals can be met. There are several attributes that can contribute to the success of virtual teams and others that could result into failure of the virtual teams. First, one must assess the willingness of the members of the team to work virtually. Working virtually means that the individual can only work remotely without the supervision and management that may be observed at a workplace.
