It is evident that the church plays a significant role in the protection of human life. It is paramount that the church is responsible for safeguarding the dignity and value of humans. For instance, the church does not support any process that may terminate life such as abortion and death sentence. However, there are some special cases where the law allows abortion if the fetus risks the life of the mother. With the current advancement in technology, the doctors can detect any medical abnormalities in the fetus which may endanger the life of the mother. Various moral theories can be used to determine the course of action if such abnormalities are detected. To this extent, therefore, this paper seeks to explore and analyze the case study of Jessica whose fetus has been identified with abnormalities by Doctor Wilson, discuss the Christian view of the nature of persons and which theory of moral status applies to the case of Jessica and how the theory relates to dignity and value of humans
