This assignment provides you with an opportunity to examine advocacy at different levels. You will explore the role of a child family advocate within the micro, meso, and macrosystems. In this assignment, you will create a hypothetical case study that highlights a social issue in the life of an at-risk child or adolescent and present a presentation that addresses that social issue at the micro, meso, and macro levels.
Assignment Directions
Begin by choosing one of the following social issues: juvenile delinquency, bullying/cyberbullying, substance abuse, suicide, or mental health disorder. Again, you may choose only one of the social issues provided. For the presentation, you will use the Notes section of each slide to support the content of that slide, and then address the information you have provided with 1–2 minutes of audio per slide.
Please use the Unit 9 Assignment Template to address each of the following:
Slide 1: Title
Slide 2: Case Overview
Provide the fictitious client name, age, gender, and race.
Describe the client’s presenting problem and the social issue that is impacting the client’s life. Share any history, events, or episodes related to the client’s problem and social issue.
Notes: In at least one paragraph, describe the client’s family system and other information related to the client’s environment relevant to the case.
Slide 3: Overview of Social Issue
Provide an overview of the social issue. Consider sharing statistical information, current events, or other information that gives context to the issue.
Notes: In at least 2 paragraphs, demonstrate why advocacy and intervention is needed not just for the client but to meet a broader need.
Slide 4: Microsystem Intervention
Describe one microsystem level intervention you would recommend to address the social issue presented in your case study.
Assess how this intervention could alter the outcome of events or episodes related to the social issue in your case study.
Notes: In at least 2 paragraphs, explain why you would recommend it and evaluate the benefit of this intervention from an ecological perspective.

Describe one mesosystem level intervention you would recommend to address the social issue presented in your case study.
Assess how this intervention could alter the outcome of events or episodes related to the social issue in your case study.
Notes: In at least 2 paragraphs, explain why you would recommend it and evaluate the benefit of this intervention from an ecological perspective. Consider the benefits of this intervention beyond the individual in your case study.
