The spread of Christianity during the early middle Ages

Introduction

The early middle ages are the period between 500AD to 1000AD. During this era, the Christian myth, as well as the legend, was adjusted to the contemporary traditions as the faith grew beyond its initial cultural setting of the Mediterranean into northern Europe. Consequently, new groups of saints emerged. The miracles of these saints were indicated as hagiographic workings. Christianity changed from a persecuted and unorganized team of believers into an ordered and dominating Church which developed beside the constantly transforming political scene of post-Roman Europe. Initially, the Christian churches were established from different parts of the world as small groups finding its well-founded foundation to expand in Europe. The fall of the Roman Empire empowered the growth of the churches. During this period, the only acknowledged religion among the Europeans was Christianity and in particular Catholicism.
