The guest of the podcast, Michael Devers, helps companies navigate through organizational and market challenges as a consultant and has years of experience in assisting companies in crisis. He believes that until a crisis occurs, companies seldom think about crisis preparedness and improving their systems. He feels that there are a lot of fundamental triages and gives advice on how to communicate effectively with workers in an organization when consulting. However, the place wherein he likes to begin is with the mentality of management. As per his opinion, if management can just get their attitude correct, the rest will fall into place. Since every company in the globe is impacted by COVID-19 at the moment, he simply reminds people that once they have a significant business interruption like this, one should remember three things. The first thing to know is that it will continue a lot longer than anticipated. Secondly, the impact will be far broader than anticipated. Thirdly, one should be prepared to pay more than anticipated upfront. As a result, remembering these points and avoiding taking quick cuts to a solution can benefit companies.
