Interview Questions
Hi, and thank you for participating in this interview process for my study. I am Christina McBee, and I am performing a study about the reasons that employees decide to stay in a position or leave a position within a company.
1. Me: What is your full name?
Lauren: Lauren Jackson
2. Me: What is your current position?
Lauren: Pharmacy Lead Technician, CPhT
3. Me: How long have you been in your current position with this company?
Lauren: 2 years
4. Me: What do you enjoy about your career choice?
Lauren: I enjoy interacting with customers and my co-workers. One of my favorite aspects is being able to help people, whether it be finding them a cheaper price for their medicine, helping someone find something in the store, filling their prescriptions, or just being someone to put a smile on someone’s face.
5. Me: What do you dislike about your career choice?
6. Me: Have you ever been offered a position with another company?
Lauren: Yes, multiple times.
7. Me: Have you ever resigned from a company for better benefits or pay?
Lauren: Yes, I actually left the company I am currently at for better pay, but I eventually came back to where I started!
8. Me: Have you ever stayed with a company that offered less?
Lauren: No. But I did come back to my current company for less than what I was making elsewhere.
9. Me: What was your reasoning behind that decision?
Lauren: I started my career with my current company. I always missed it when I was with another company. I was able to grow and learn a lot by venturing elsewhere and now I have the opportunity to share my knowledge back where I belong. My current manager asked me if I wanted to come back and a couple of conversations later, I made the switch.
10. Me: What do you think companies can do to retain talented help?
Lauren: Appreciation, Recognition, Respect. I think these are the 3 main focal points to retain talented help. I have seen a lot of amazing employees move on simply because they weren’t recognized, or their voice wasn’t heard, or they didn’t feel like they were doing a good enough job.
It’s so easy to discipline an employee, but sometimes with managers, I see it is hard for them to commend.
Do you have anything else you would like to add that was not covered in the interview?
