For this assignment, craft a paper in which you hypothesize two companies that could be candidates to be allies or to be acquired by the other. For example, not long ago US Airways purchased American Airlines to become the world’s largest airline. Can you think of any other companies that you could see this happening to/with? Your paper should reflect sound reasoning and should contain academic and professional research. It should also demonstrate academic thinking based on what has been learned and discussed in the course to date. Be creative in your thinking and application of logic.

Mergers and acquisitions have been on the rise especially with giant companies. As these companies grow, they consistently change the terrains of the business world, making it more competitive, tough to penetrate, wealthier and dynamic (Chaston, 2017). Such are the changes that decompose advantages of the first mover strategy as this holds little or no weight in the current corporate world – a company could enjoy high prices and a significant market share in the short-run, after which other competitors will merge and push the former to consider the M&A strategy too.

The American economy is the most diverse in the world and as a result, the market has many players thus monopoly is something the current generation of scholars only read in business and history books.
