The belief that conflict is an enduring aspect of society is only the starting point from which to understand conflict theory. Marxism, pluralism, and elitism are all theories that are related to power disparity and how it emerges from the different traditions wherein supremacy is measured. Looking at power from a fundamental view, Steven Lukes identifies three main proportions of power and according to him; each dimension becomes more complicated than the previous dimension. In its view of power, pluralism could be identified as one of the dimensions of its naive version of decision making.
