Continuing Argumentative Essay
Drafting an Argumentative Essay
In this unit, you will draw on the prewriting you performed in Unit 7 to write a full argumentative research essay draft utilizing two scholarly, peer-reviewed library sources, cited and referenced in correct APA. You will submit your draft to your instructor for grading and feedback in this assignment. At this point, you have identified a debate, taken your position, generated supporting and opposing points, and considered audience, purpose, and voice via the use of prewriting strategies. Now you will draft the full essay.
Please carefully examine the Argumentative Essay Sample resource, as well as the APA section of A Writer’s Reference, under Article from a Database, and/or to The Prentice Hall Guide for College Writers, Article from a Journal, in the APA section, which starts on page 453.
The purpose of this essay is to take a firm stance on an arguable concept within your topic of interest and to persuade your reader of your stance effectively via argument strategies and the integration of scholarly research.
To complete the assignment:
Use your prewriting materials from the Unit 7 assignment and the feedback you received from your instructor to write a full, 3–4 page rough draft of your Argumentative Essay. (Page requirement does not include title page, references, or revision statement.) This draft will be graded and should be very carefully composed. Incorporate a variety of argumentative appeals: logic and reason; character, credibility, and ethical appeal; and emotion (logos, ethos, and pathos). Integrate rich information from your two scholarly, peer-reviewed library sources and from your own understanding of the topic.
Integrate quoted and/or paraphrased information from both library articles throughout your essay. Incorporate source materials smoothly into your own paragraphs, fully citing the articles in-text and in an end References page in correct APA style.
When you have finished your assignment, carefully and very thoroughly read through the Drafting an Argumentative Essay Scoring Guide before submitting your work. Read and comprehend all categories in the scoring guide, asking your instructor if you have any questions about any element of these criteria. Do not finalize and submit this assignment until you have taken this step.
Format your draft in full and proper APA document style.
Submit your assignment to the Turnitin source matching tool, and make any necessary revisions before submitting your final essay for grading.
Submit the draft of your Argumentative Essay.

With the increased difficulty in treating depression as a psychiatric disorder, new methods to cope with the disorder have come up including the mindfulness-based cognitive therapy. An example of this type of therapy is Yoga which is used to reduce stress, treat depression as well as anxiety. We, therefore, must evaluate whether this type of mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is effective and if so whether it is better than pharmaceutical treatment for depression (Naveen, 2013).
