Core Values
Values are an important part of any effective leadership process. According to Fernandez and Hogan, (2002), they are essential in helping determine the direction taken by the decisions of a particular leadership team. Consequently, human resource departments in various organizations often seek to understand employee values during the employment process, from which the employer then determines the suitability of employing the individual in question within the firm. Therefore, it remains important for any individual aspiring to take a leadership position to develop his or her core values and understand them well enough to be in a position to determine possible approaches to management within different contexts.
