Online and hybrid courses can be designed using several different models or schemas. In this section of the Course Proposal, address the following points:
- Course design model: Describe the model you have chosen for this course. Support your decision and explain how this model fits your content area, delivery mode, and potential learners. (Model samples: thematic, chronological, by different books, or by the chapters within one book, linear design, branched design, hyper content design, learner-directed design, etc.).
- Course introduction: Introduce your course to potential learners. Include a short description of the content, organization, and expectations.
Be sure to support your proposal with sources from the course and your own research. The Library is a good place to find reliable, scholarly resources. Please cite and reference all sources used according to APA (6th ed.) style.

The course is an explanation of the American literature, its components as well as the role it plays in the knowledge acquisition on the same topic. Poetry in the American culture developed over the centuries with different features in each period including the pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial in addition to the contemporary society. An individual can be able to research through history and find out the developments that occurred over the years in association to the effects they had on the people living during the time. Students can also be able to understand the different fields involved in shaping literature and the ones which had much influence on its development. Some favorite topics in American literature include poetry, short stories as well as dramas and they play a great role education-wise in the modern day.
