The increase in juvenile program evaluation highlights that some strategies are ineffective. A program that has been ineffective in the treatment and prevention of juvenile crime is “scaring straight.” Permitting the adult inmates to have direct contact with the juveniles has proven to be ineffective. The program is ineffective as it does not prevent juvenile delinquency. An additional approach is disregarding the impact of cultural diversity in juvenile delinquency. As such, programs that do not take into account cultural variations are ineffective as they do no assess the risk factors of each culture.
