Debate over Macroeconomic Policy
Introduction
The government controls the economy through the implementation of macroeconomic tools. Such policies are either fiscal or monetary where the government targets the aggregate economy. Factors of influence include inflation, unemployment, price level and economic growth. This paper discusses two macroeconomic tools: active and monetary policy and the implementation of a balanced budget to influence long-term economic growth. It also outlines the advocates’ and critic position for both issues and finally, a selection of one side for which it offers support.
