Part1: Conflicts with Teams

An example of a conflict my team faced was in a high school basketball team where some members claimed that the coach favored certain players. The conflict was driven by interpersonal conflicts between team members as some players believed that some members of the team were given game time despite poor performances. The dispute split the team into two factions, one that supported the coach’s decisions and the other than believed he was biased. Consequently, the teams’ performance deteriorated as we lost five consecutive matches. The team’s conflict showed that team leaders can take certain interventions to prevent and manage conflicts among team members. One of the measures that leaders can take is being aware that conflicts are inevitable, hence, they can set ground rules while managing them (Runde & Flanagan, 2013).
