This week, we’ve done a lot of reading and discussion on the nature of race and identity in the work of W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington–

In three paragraphs describe 1) whether accomodationism or protest is the best political strategy for minorities, and 2) discuss how ‘double consciousness’ may impact the struggle for civil rights.

Leaders of the black people worked so hard to look for a strategy that could revive their civilization during the error of reconstruction. For a long period no one had ever thought of such a thing. DuBois came up with the theme of reconciling the contradiction that was between the continuing subjection of Negroes and American freedom for whites.
