Discussion Board
- The Discussion Board post (initial and 1 response)
The Initial post will include an approximately 200-word description of the 10 oral and facial structures and findings below from Chapters 1, 2, and 9 in Illustrated Embryology, Histology, and Anatomy textbook worth 7 points. Reference (textbook is sufficient) is required for every post, please list specific pages.
For each of the 10 bullet points/structures include ALL of the following:
- type of finding or structure (i.e. philtrum – vertical groove found on upper lip under nasal septum)
- etiology of finding (i.e. philtrum – maxillary processes & nasal processes contribute to philtrum development)
- pathology or common finding (i.e. philtrum is a common anatomical landmark due to fusion of adjacent structures)
- FULL EXAMPLE philtrum – vertical groove found on upper lip under nasal septum, maxillary processes & nasal processes contribute to development, common anatomical landmark due to fusion of adjacent structures
Assignments areas, select 10 specific structures for identification within your head and neck area below
- Intraoral structures of the palate, the floor of mouth, tongue, throat
- all assignments above may include regions identified, specific structures, palpable internal structures
- DO NOT include philtrum as one of your structures as it was utilized as an example!
- all assignments above may include regions identified, specific structures, palpable internal structures
Once students have created their initial thread post with a bullet point list of the structure, they must respond to 1 other student about different structures they observed but did not use in their original post. Peer responses need at least 100 words and have new or reflective information about the topic/structures/regions to receive credit, worth 3 points.
Requirements: initial post 200 words at least and one reply of 100 word at least
