Industrialization
1/ The rapid industrialization of the United States in the late 19th century fundamentally transformed the country. Were the changes introduced by industrialization positive or negative?
2/ Just as today, the late 19th and early 20th century witnessed a huge wave of immigration. Are there similarities in the problems faced by immigrants? Issues caused by immigration?
3/ One of the best ways to learn something is to connect it with what you already know. Show a connection between the history we are studying this week and a) something in your own life historyOR b) something you learned (a theory or concept) from a non-history class (Economics, Anthropology, Math, Science — be creative!). Your post should clearly demonstrate your understanding of this week’s lesson.

Part One: Question One
The rapid changes in the American society in the late nineteenth century were largely negative to society at the time. They helped increase the gap between the rich and the poor due to extensive exploitation of labor in the country, the consequence of which were the workers strike in the final years of the century. The economic conditions included vertical and horizontal acquisitions of industries of significance to the economy, which in turn reduced the chances of alternative investors with limited financial capital succeeding in the market.
