Part One: Current Event Article
1. Select an article from a newspaper, magazine, or on-line material. Your article should be unique and not one your classmate has already chosen.
2. Write a one-paragraph summary that includes the main point of the article.
3. Include a reference for the article.

1. Find 10 medical terms from the current event article and list the words and their definitions. These are the terms that will be recorded in audio.
2. Go to the Course Materials and find the Glossary link under the Student Resources and open. Locate your (10) words listed for that week and play the audio pronunciation. Listen carefully and repeat each word out loud, practicing until you are confident that your pronunciation is correct.

Part Three
In this unit we have discussed the medical terminology concepts of root words, prefixes, suffixes, and combining forms. Describe each in detail. Where can they be found in a word? What can each of these four word components tell you about a word? How do you find each to be useful in understanding new terms and definitions? Pick three terms and dissect them based on these components. Make certain to identify each component in your dissections.

This unit we learned about the various disorders of the respiratory system. What is tuberculosis and what exactly does it do to the human body? What symptoms will one experience with this disorder? Describe the conditions under which TB is most easily transferred from person to person. Why is TB a particularly grave threat to anyone with AIDS?

What impacts does stress have on your immune response? Describe some of the stressful times in your life and the impacts it has had on your body.

This unit we learned about the brain and spinal cord and their functions in the human body. The brain and the spinal cord are surrounded by cerebrospinal fluid. What is the function of this fluid? Why is an examination of this fluid important in the diagnosis of neurological conditions?
