discussion- seven dimensions of applied behavior analysis
Throughout this course, many opportunities are available to post an initial response to a Discussion topic as well as to respond to your classmates’ responses. After you have completed the reading, and without reviewing your classmates’ responses, post your initial response to the following Discussion. Your post should be at least 300 words in length and should extend the discussion of the group supported by your course materials and/or other appropriate resources. After you have submitted your initial post, review some of your classmates’ posts and respond to at least two of your classmates. Refer to your Discussion Board Rubric for specific grading explanation.
Discussion Topic
In the Baer et al. article (in Unit 2 Reading), the authors described the necessary characteristics of applied behavioral interventions. These characteristics shine a light on the differences between the experimental and applied analysis of behavior.
Please respond to the following:
- List the seven dimensions of applied behavior analysis and provide a description of each.
- Explain how each “dimension” guides your interpretation of behavioral research.
- The results of various research studies are often announced on cable news stations, on the Internet, in popular magazines, and even in infomercials. Reflecting on a recent research study that has been reported:
- Apply the seven dimensions of applied behavior analysis to your interpretation of the results.
- Did it meet the criteria for good research? Explain your answer.
- How could the application of all, or some, of the seven dimensions of applied behavior analysis result in a more valid study?

Seven Dimensions of Applied Behavior Analysis
There are several dimensions of applied behavior analysis that are used in behavior analysis. When a therapist is developing interventions for behavioral issues, they must first determine which dimension is to be used. They include generalization, effective interventions, technological, applied, conceptually systematic, analytic, and behavioral (Cooper, Heron, & Heward, 2007).
