Health discussion AND two student reply’s
Learning Goal: I’m working on a public health multi-part question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Are you prepared for the unexpected ending of life? How does it make you feel to have to prepare for this life event that is inevitable? Would you want a DNR order if you were terminally ill?
What do you think of the five stages of grief? If you are not familiar with them, watch the following videos and then comment on them:

Hello class,
For this weeks topic about death, I wouldn’t say I’m prepared because nobody can be prepared for something like that. I don’t even know how you would start about that, of course I know if you’re old or have some sort of disease, you would have more of preparation because you know you don’t have years to live, you have more of months. so that gives you time to do your will and if you up for planning your funeral or whatever you want to do before you die. I would definitely say if I was ill I wouldn’t have a DNR, id wants to have as many lives as possible, no matter if im in pain or not. because what if it was an accident. I think for many the five stages of grief would be different depending on how close or not you was with that person who passed. I know with me, I’ve only tossed both grandpas, those would be the closest people that ive lost, never had any other deaths in my life. And I know I didn’t go through all of them, mainly it was anger and depression the most.

No, I am not prepared for life’s unpredictability. This is not something I think about often because I am only 18 years old. I don’t wake up thinking, “If something were to happen to me, I wouldn’t have my affairs in order.” While it is something I should think about, I am not at that point in my life yet. It’s a good idea to set your affairs in order so that you’ll be ready when the inevitable day arrives. Having to plan for the inevitable teaches me not to take my life for granted because it will all be gone one day. Preparing also makes me realize how unprepared I am for that inevitable day. If I were terminally ill, I would want a DNR order. A person who is terminally ill has an illness that cannot be cured and will eventually result in death. You’re merely postponing the inevitable if you don’t have a DNR. That is why you must live a fulfilling life so that you will have no regrets when the time comes. The five stages of grief, in my opinion, are a good representation of the emotions that people go through when they are grieving. While there is no set order, and not everyone will go through all of these stages, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to grieving, knowing what to expect can help you better understand your feelings.
