Do people have a predeposition towards teeneagers?
Teenage Misdemeanor
Most societies view teenagers as the primary sources of mischief within the community, with peer pressure and efforts to fit into certain social groups forming the primary basis of such perceptions. A group of teenagers is more likely to engage in shoplifting than a group of adults with the primary explanation being limited understanding of the consequences of their actions on individual welfare (Monahan, Steinberg, Cauffman, & Mulvey, 2009). Still under the parents’ care, a teenager may not understand how hard it could be for him or her to get employment in case he or she is arrested and spends some time in prison. With limited interaction with people that have had to seek employment, the teenager may not fully understand the gravity of some actions.
