Double wishbone suspension

Introduction

            The suspension system comprises of shock absorbers, springs, and linkages that connect the vehicle to its wheels thereby allowing relative motion between the two. The suspension systems have a dual purpose, enhance the vehicle’s handling and braking for effective active safety and driving pleasure (Delphi Technologies, N.d.). Besides, the suspension systems function to keep the vehicle occupants comfortable and isolated from the bumps, road noise, and vibrations. With this, it is important for the suspension system to maintain the road wheel in constant contact with the road surface because the forces that act on the vehicle do so via the contact patches of the tires (Delphi Technologies, N.d.). Additionally, the suspension system serves the purpose of protecting the vehicle and the luggage from wear and tear.
