- Negligence is a harsh term that is typically associated with failure to do what is required as a professional. Most EMS professionals have forgotten something or have done something that at the time did not really seem to be a big deal but maybe was not exactly the most correct.
Consider how you would respond to a co-worker who confided in you that she recently failed to restart a medication during the transfer of a stroke patient between two facilities. This patient has not done well, and your co-worker is concerned that the failure to administer the medication during the transport could have affected this patient’s outcome. She has not reported this to anyone and did not document either way on the patient care report. What would you advise her to do? How do you feel about what has happened?
